Windows 7
From DIGITUS - Wiki
At the moment we ask the producers of our chipsets to inform us about the Windows 7 compatibility of about 300 different chipsets.
Our targets include the personal testing of all of our devices currently available on the market concerning their Windows 7 compatibility. Yet, this will still take some time.

Compatibility of various Windows 7 versions
When the beta version was released in November 2008 we have started to test our products with Windows 7. In our tests we were surprised by minor compatibility issues we do not want to keep back from DIGITUS® customers:
- Up to now we can state that all DIGITUS® devices compatible with Vista also worked in a Windows 7 environment. Yet, in some cases we had to activate the Vista compatibility mode. Principally this does not mean that Windows 7 support of such products is restricted.
- A small number of devices not compatible with Windows Vista will now be supported by Windows 7. To a small extent this improved compatibility occured due to the fact the XP compatibility mode brought about an effect.
- Particular hardware devices supported by Windows 7 Beta did no longer work with Windows 7 RC1 - and vice versa
Our Windows 7 experiences:
- Faster than XP and Vista
- Though W7's minimum system requirements are higher, this operating system significantly offers more options and features than Windows XP and, if we compare Windows XP in relation to Windows 7, Windows 7 runs faster.
- PC boots up faster
- In comparison with Windows Vista and XP the booting time of Windows 7 is significantly shorter.
- Higher compatibility
- The improved compatibility of the Windows 7 operating system allows you to install hardware devices and software which were not created with Windows 7 in mind. We did not face any problems when we tried to do this.

How to boot computers with multicore processors
Windows 7 does not automatically activate all cores available on your mainboard. In order to activate several cores, you will have to do the following steps:
- in the Start Menu
- search for "msconfig" and choose this term at the top
- selct tab "Start"
- click on "Advanced Functions"
- tick off "Number of Processors" and select the corresponding number of cores
- press the "OK" button to finish
Windows 7 will now start to optimize the booting procedure. Thus, this will finally speed up your operating system.
