Here we would like to give you pieces of advice on how you can organize your Windows operating systems more effectively.
The suggestions we make here are based on information from our customers and experiences of our support team.
- Unfortunately, DIGITUS® cannot make suggestions concerning software programs.
Windows
- Remove devices you do not use any longer from the device manager.
- It might even be helpful to remove hardware you do not use anymore from your computer case.
- Remove INFCACHE.1 and restart your computer
- Run the SFC service in cases of malfunctions
- Defragment your system in order to speed up the data transmission
- Empty %Systemroot%\Prefetch
- This is the place where Windows saves information of programs in order to execute them faster. Yet, if the folder gets too big this will have contrary results.
- Empty %Systemroot%\Temp
- In this folder files are saved that are executed or were executed. In general, you can remove this folder´s content. Yet, if a particular file is still in use it will be write-protected.
- Empty "Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Temp"
- Comparable with "%Systemroot%\Temp"
